We value our own privacy and that’s why we are careful about our user’s privacy as well.
Still, we want our users to be able to find us, so we do use some services to help us understand how our website is used and use this data to optimize it.
Here you’ll find information about what services we use, how we use them, and how you can choose whether to help us improve our website or not.
We want to make sure this policy always reflects the current state of our website. This means we may change it from time to time by updating this page.
You should check this page from time to time to ensure that you are happy with any changes.
Who we are
Our website address is: https://napocatranslations.ro.
Our company is The Weaver of Stories by D. Condor, located in Scherzligweg 4, 3600 Thun, CH.
What kind of data we collect and why we collect it
We try to strictly limit data collection to services that help us understand how our website is used, and we don’t profile you in any way. Your age, gender identity, or shopping preference are irrelevant when it comes to our ability to perform our translation services so we do not collect – nor have we never collected, not since we went live in 2014 – this sort of data.
If we can help you with a rush translation, we will, no matter who you are.
What data do we collect?
We use traffic log cookies linked to the Piwik Pro service which we have set up so it only collects anonymized data. This allows us to see how many visitors our website has, how many of them are returning visitors (this is done anonymously by hiding IP and USP data and allocating a unique number to each visitor), where they come from, and what type of devices and browsers they use.
Specifically, our analytics data may reveal that a great percentage of users (without identifying the users in any way) only spend 3 seconds on our contact page. Seeing this information allows us to infer that we should probably revise that page and find ways to make it more useful to you.
The analytics service we use also collects geo-location data, because from time to time we run paid advertising campaigns and knowing the general location of our website’s users helps us display our ads in those areas. Again, this is anonymized, and we do not have access to individual IPs or your service provider’s identity.
Our analytics service also tells us how many visitors access our website via mobile and respectively desktop devices, as well as which browsers were used to access our website. This allows us to optimize our website and make it more user-friendly for the majority of our users. We occasionally look at this data and test the way our website behaves when using these browsers. In this way, we try to make sure it behaves correctly and you have the best experience possible while accessing it.
We believe this to be an ethical use of analytics data since it allows us to check how our website is used – if no-one accesses it then we’ll go out of business, since we’re mostly a small, digitally-run business.
Furthermore, we have selected Piwik Pro as our analytics provider specifically because it fully complies with the GDPR requirements and we have the peace of mind that our data is not mishandled by the service we use. Your data is not sent or processed outside the EU, nor is it shared with anyone else.
How do we collect this data?
Our website currently only collects data via cookies. A cookie is a small file which asks permission to be placed on your computer’s hard drive. Once you agree, the file is added and the cookie helps analyze web traffic or lets you know when you visit a particular site.
Cookies allow web applications to respond to you as an individual. The web application can tailor its operations to your needs, likes and dislikes by gathering and remembering information about your preferences. On our website, you can set your language preferences in this way.
Overall, cookies help us provide you with a better website by enabling us to monitor which pages you find useful and which you do not. A cookie in no way gives us access to your computer or any information about you, other than the data you choose to share with us.
For specific information about which cookies we use, please see our Cookie Policy.
Why do we collect this data?
The purpose of our data collection is to improve our website and services.
You may have noticed that the services we use and our reaction to them are focused on what WE can do to improve, not on how we can manipulate more people into ordering their translations from us.
We could easily have chosen to use a more privacy invasive service and look into information like which age group or gender most visits our website and then target that group with our services. Some may say we’re fools not to this, but we feel this practice is a kind of discrimination and we prefer to steer away from it.
We believe our current practices are enough to provide us with the means to improve our service, and at the same time respect our visitors’ privacy. Even so we allow you to choose whether you wish to help us improve our website or not via the cookie consent query you encounter when accessing our website.
What automated decision making and/or profiling we do with user data
We do not use any sort of automated decision making nor profiling on data.
